Job summary

Senior Machine Learning Engineer (m/f/d) at Quantum-Systems GmbH in Gilching leads model development for autonomous aerial platforms. You will prepare data, train and validate models, and deploy them on embedded UAVs, UGVs, and USVs to boost autonomy.

You collaborate with hardware, testing, production and customer operations teams. You bring a track record in production DL models, ML pipelines, and cloud/containerized workflows, with a focus on performance in resource‑constrained environments.

Qualifications

• Proven track record designing and training deep learning models for production use.
• Experience with model optimization for resource‑constrained environments (quantization, pruning, distillation).
• Deep expertise in computer vision architectures or VLAs Architecture.
• Experience building and maintaining ML training and inference pipelines.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with GPU cluster management and high‑performance computing environments.
• Familiarity with drone‑generated data types (imagery, LiDAR, telemetry, flight logs).
• Experience with data quality assurance, annotation workflows, and labelling platforms.
• Experience with generation of synthetic data and simulation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and select data for training and evaluation.
• Train and validate ML models for embedded UAVs, UGVs, and USVs.
• Collaborate with hardware, testing, production, and operations teams.
• Deploy models to real embedded platforms and monitor performance.
• Improve autonomy of UxV systems through ongoing iterations.
