Job summary

Berkadia in Utah seeks a Senior Engineer, Machine Learning to advance Berkie, our generative AI platform, and apply AI to commercial real estate workflows. You will build production ML systems, collaborate with product/engineer/data teams, and drive MLOps and scalable AI solutions.

The role emphasizes hands-on Python, cloud infrastructure, and cutting-edge AI techniques, with opportunities to influence revenue and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software development experience, with a focus on Python.
• Experience building ML models (regression, classification, clustering) and generative AI systems (LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation).
• Designing and building AI agents, including tool use, orchestration, memory/context management, and workflow automation.
• Building AI evaluation harnesses to test, measure, monitor, and improve agent/LLM quality.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and MLOps (deployment, monitoring, observability).
• Experience with unstructured/semi-structured data to structured formats via ML.
• React frontend skills/Javascript a plus.
• Experience with Agile and CI/CD practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS or STEM with analytics focus preferred

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain production-ready ML systems using generative and traditional techniques.
• Architect end-to-end AI solutions for intelligent document processing, agentic systems, and information retrieval.
• Drive development of Berkie, Berkadia's generative AI platform, enabling access to proprietary data to boost efficiency and growth.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and data teams to translate problems into scalable AI solutions.
• Write maintainable Python code and use modern cloud infrastructure; use notebooks for experimentation.
• Establish and contribute to MLOps practices including deployment, monitoring, observability, and continuous improvement.
• Participate in peer reviews, design discussions, and learning sessions to share knowledge.
• Document system designs and decisions to improve clarity and reproducibility.
• Stay up-to-date with ML and GenAI; be curious and self-driven.
• Take initiative and demonstrate impact on others.
