Job summary

Berkadia is seeking a Senior Engineer, Machine Learning to design and scale AI systems, including Berkie, our generative AI platform, using proprietary data to boost efficiency and revenue across the loan servicing business.

You will partner with product, engineering, architecture, and data teams to build production-ready models, agentic systems, and intelligent document processing, while mentoring teammates and advancing MLOps practices in a hybrid Utah setting.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software development experience, with a focus on Python.
• Experience building traditional ML models (regression, classification, clustering) and generative AI systems (LLMs, RAG, prompt engineering).
• Experience designing and building AI agents, including tool use, orchestration, memory/context management, and workflow automation.
• Experience building AI evaluation harnesses to test, measure, monitor, and improve agent/LLM quality.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and MLOps practices (deployment, monitoring, observability).
• Experience with unstructured and semi-structured data to structured formats via ML.
• React frontend development skills/Javascript are a plus.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and CI/CD practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain production-ready ML systems using generative and traditional techniques.
• Architect end-to-end AI solutions for intelligent document processing, agentic systems, and information retrieval.
• Drive development of Berkie, Berkadia’s generative AI platform, enabling access to proprietary data and supporting growth.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify problems and translate them into scalable AI solutions.
• Write maintainable code using Python and modern cloud infrastructure; use notebooks for experimentation.
• Establish and contribute to best practices in MLOps, including deployment, monitoring, and observability.
• Participate in peer reviews, design discussions, and team learning sessions.
