Job summary

Sekai is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to own search and recommendation systems for Sekai’s consumer product. You will build the models and systems that decide what users see, search for, continue playing, and how high-quality content reaches the right audience.

This is a senior IC role focused on production-ready, scalable solutions in an AI-native consumer social product. Remote-first across all positions with opportunities to shape long-term ML architecture.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience building production ML systems for consumer apps.
• Hands-on experience building recommendation or search systems for entertainment-driven products.
• Strong product intuition around relevance, retention and engagement.
• Experience with two-tower models and embedding-based retrieval.
• Ability to translate user behavior into modeling signals and product improvements.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve recommendation and search systems across feed, discovery, search, and content surfaces.
• Own retrieval and ranking systems, including candidate generation and online serving quality.
• Design, launch, and analyze experiments end-to-end; iterate from data-driven insights.
• Improve quality for new users/content, and rapidly changing content pools.
• Build representations from behavioral signals; collaborate with product, data, and engineering teams.
• Shape long-term ML architecture for AI-native content discovery.
