Job summary

Genentech, a member of the Roche group, is seeking a Senior ML Engineer to join the Generative Modeling team within the CS-CoE. You will help build and scale foundation models and agentic systems for therapeutic discovery, spanning design, development, and production.

You will collaborate with ML scientists and engineers to deliver scalable, robust software for target and drug discovery. The role requires 5+ years of ML system experience, excellent Python skills, and strong collaboration with

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and shipping ML systems in industry.
• Excellent Python; strong software and data engineering fundamentals.
• Track record leading technical projects end to end.
• Comfort with ambiguity and collaboration with scientists.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Interest or experience applying ML to scientific discovery.

Responsibilities

• Build agents that use tools, retrieve evidence, and reason across multi-step scientific workflows.
• Design interfaces between agents and biological, genomic, and clinical data sources.
• Develop evaluation harnesses comparing agent output to ground truth.
• Implement self-improving loops for autoML and lab-in-the-loop.
• Own production Python/PyTorch/JAX codebases and MLOps/AgentOps lifecycle.
