Job summary

Motional is seeking a Senior Engineer to join our ML Data Services team to build data infrastructure for Autonomy ML. You will design REST APIs, microservices, and scalable pipelines processing terabytes of data to provide datasets for ML training, simulation, and evaluation.

You will own backend services, work with stakeholders on objectives and timelines, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to observability and SDLC practices. Prior AWS and data engineering experience is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience, Python preferred, with Java or Go.
• 5+ years backend development with REST APIs and microservices.
• 3+ years AWS cloud experience (DynamoDB, API Gateway, EKS, Lambda, OpenSearch, Redshift, S3).
• 3+ years data engineering with AWS Step Functions, Airflow or Prefect.
• Strong written and oral communication; ability to work cross-functionally.
• BS or MS in Computer Science or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Restful APIs and microservices for data labeling and annotations.
• Architect, build and maintain scalable data processing pipelines with cloud ETL tech for Autonomy datasets.
• Own highly-available backend services that store and expose terabytes of data.
• Collaborate with leadership to define objectives, timelines and deliverables.
• Design and develop monitoring and observability for MLOps data service pipelines.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote SDLC best practices through pairing sessions.
