Job summary

Ho-Chunk, Inc. seeks a Senior Mining Engineer to provide expert technical direction from exploration strategy to mine and reclamation planning. This role interfaces with tribal owners, contractors, and government agencies to support mineral development and grant management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering or closely related field; Master’s preferred; FE required; PE preferred or obtainable within 12 months.
• 6–8 years of progressively responsible mining planning, reserve estimation, and economic evaluation experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day technical direction for mining engineering work.
• Prepare resource and reserve estimates for metal, coal, industrial minerals, and aggregates.
• Develop detailed mine and reclamation plans including mining methods, equipment, staffing, and scheduling.
• Conduct economic evaluations using discounted cash flow methods and estimate capital and operating costs.
• Represent owners/operators in meetings with mining companies, contractors, and government agencies.
• Assist with mineral lease negotiations, royalty terms, and environmental clauses.
• Review grant proposals for mineral assessment projects and monitor grant lifecycle.
• Make presentations on mining fundamentals, regulations, and NEPA requirements.
• Supervise junior engineers and multidisciplinary teams; ensure QA/QC of designs and calculations.
