Job summary

Albemarle is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer for the Kings Mountain Lithium Project in North Carolina. The role focuses on open pit design, scheduling, and project optimization from study through execution, with collaboration across geotechnical, environmental, and processing teams.

You will contribute to budgets, risk assessments, and readiness activities while ensuring MSHA regulatory compliance and safe, efficient mining operations. This role is on-site in Kings Mountain.

Qualifications

• Minimum B.S. in Mining Engineering.
• 7+ years of mine engineering and operations experience.
• Strong knowledge of surface mining methods for hard-rock deposits.
• Proficient in mine design and scheduling software.
• Demonstrated knowledge of MSHA regulations and permitting processes.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to strategic and tactical mine planning activities including pit optimization, mine design, drill and blast design, production scheduling, and trade-off analyses.
• Provide mine engineering support to cross-functional teams across geotechnical, hydrology, environmental and process disciplines.
• Evaluate mining methods and equipment strategies to identify optimal project solutions.
• Maintain continuity of technical work from study phases to execution.
• Develop and review budgets, CAPEX and OPEX related to mining.
