Job summary

Smart Sand is seeking an experienced Mining Engineer to lead short- and long-term mine planning at our Oakdale, WI facility, with travel to Utica and Blair locations. You will develop plans for mining, tailings, and reclamation, and advise operations to maximize efficiency and sustainability.

The role reports to the VP of Mining Operations and requires a strong background in CAD, GIS, and regulatory compliance, plus excellent communication and project management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering preferred.
• CAD experience required; GIS experience preferred.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience with at least 3 years of direct mine planning responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Develop Short Term (1 year), Long Term (5 year), and Life of Mine Plans for active mining sites at Oakdale, Utica, and Blair.
• Advise on reserve quality and product mix for active and future reserves; validate against plant performance.
• Identify risks and projects for the 5-year capital plan to ensure timely completion.
• Review production records for accuracy and implement improvements.
• Organize and maintain mining records and systems.
