Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is hiring a Sr. Buyer for our Consumer Products Operations at the Savannah River Mill in Rincon, GA. This onsite role reports to the Purchasing Manager and focuses on high-volume, time-critical purchasing with exposure to capital projects and facilities upkeep.

The Sr. Buyer will manage purchase orders, negotiate terms, and ensure contracts reflect key commercial terms while collaborating with internal customers and suppliers to meet aggressive schedules.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in purchasing or similar field (storeroom, inside sales, accounting, supply chain analyst)
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Experience negotiating contracts at local and regional levels

Responsibilities

• Ensures adherence to safety, environmental and purchasing policies, guidelines and procedures
• Uses purchasing system to process purchase orders from requisitions
• Ensures contractual documents reflect terms and conditions incl. payment, freight, incoterms and other key terms
• Issues RFQs, analyzes quotes, negotiates price and terms, selects suppliers based on lowest total cost of ownership
• Knowledgeable of company’s strategic supply agreements and utilizes them to maximize value
• Collaborates with internal requestors to understand requirements (specifications, scopes of work, performance and timing)
• Demonstrates high level of customer focus and urgency
• Uses strong communication to solve problems and provide status updates
• Analyzes root causes of accounts payable exceptions and resolves them
• Initiates changes to improve purchasing process
• Manages time to accomplish goals and priorities
• Administers contractor management tools, including Ariba
