The Senior Microsoft Platform Engineer plays a critical role on our Professional Services team, supporting complex infrastructure and cloud projects across our client base. This on-site, client-facing position is ideal for an experienced engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft technologies including Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Azure, and Intune. In addition to executing high-level projects, this individual will serve as a senior escalation point, mentor junior engineers, and lead the technical delivery of services in alignment with USM Technology’s standards and client expectations.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role is based out of our office in Allen, TX and may require occasional local travel to client sites.
Primarily on-site at USM’s headquarters with some regional travel as needed.
Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
Mileage reimbursement is provided for all business-related travel.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
Ability to sit, stand, drive, and use a laptop for extended periods.
Ability to access server / network closets, manage cables, and install devices as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Microsoft Platform Management
Architect, configure, and manage Microsoft 365 tenant environments and licensing.
Lead cloud infrastructure projects including migrations, upgrades, and deployments.
Administer Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), Intune, Autopilot, Conditional Access, and Teams Voice.
Ensure security and compliance across Microsoft platforms.
Automation & Reporting
Create PowerShell scripts to automate recurring tasks; publish AIP modules.
Develop dashboards and reports using Power BI and Crystal Reports.
Troubleshoot SharePoint integrations and ensure accurate data reporting.
Cybersecurity & Tools Integration
Deploy and maintain security solutions including Datto EDR, RocketCyber, Graphus, and Spanning.
Manage Autotask, Kaseya, Power Apps, and PIA integrations for service automation.
Ensure backup and disaster recovery plans are configured and documented.
Client Engagement & Documentation
Serve as a senior technical resource for escalated support and project execution.
Maintain documentation in IT Glue including SOPs, network diagrams, and project records.
Provide Microsoft licensing guidance and ensure compliance standards are met.
Assist with client onboarding and communicate technical strategy effectively.
Support junior engineers through mentorship and documentation best practices.
Lead technical reviews, internal training, and documentation alignment across teams.

Education & Experience
5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems engineering, or Microsoft platform management.
Must have experience in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment.
Experience with Kaseya Stack (Autotask, RMM, IT Glue).
Hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting, Power BI, and cloud security tools.
Familiarity with networking, firewalls, and virtualization (VMware / Hyper-V).
Experience in healthcare / medical IT environments is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field preferred.
Microsoft and / or CompTIA certifications preferred.
