We are in search of a Senior Microgrid Control and Automation Engineer to join our diverse and fast-paced organization. As a core team member, you will interact with other electric utility disciplines, leading and designing microgrid and renewable energy projects. In this role, the qualified individual will be expected to:

• Understand microgrid concepts, including islanding operation, grid-connected operation, energy management, control strategies, and power flow management within a microgrid system.
• Have in-depth knowledge of renewable energy technologies such as solar PV, wind turbines, batteries, and other DERs.
• Be familiar with microgrid control systems and automation technologies, including SCADA, EMS, IEDs, HMIs, RTUs.
• Possess knowledge of power electronics and their application in renewable energy systems and microgrids, including inverters and converters.
• Be proficient in CAD software, simulation tools, and programming languages used in microgrid control systems.
• Be familiar with communication protocols like DNP, SEL, MMS, Modbus.
• Have prior experience with Protection & Control design, including schematics and wiring.
• Experience with system modeling software such as ASPEN, CAPE, CYME, ETAP, SKM.
• Experience with DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61131 programming, and related software is preferred.
• Support planning and engineering for telecommunication systems and projects.
• Establish project schedules and budgets.
• Develop drawings and specifications for utility telecommunication projects.
• Coordinate with internal departments, contractors, and crews.
• Travel to project sites for assessments.

What you will bring to the table:

• Senior Level - BSc in Electrical Engineering with 4+ years of related experience.
• Lead Level - BSc in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of related experience.
• Knowledge of microgrid and renewable energies.
• Protection and control of power systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to learn client software and databases.
• Comfortable in field and office settings.
• Ability to lift 20 pounds and support field work in rough terrain.

It would be nice if you had:

• Fundamentals of Engineering certification.
• Master’s degree in a related field.
