Job summary

GE Aerospace is seeking a Senior Engineer to design and execute microfabricated sensor applications for aerospace engines and testing. You will collaborate with scientists and engineers to integrate sensor systems and ensure on‑time delivery, applying materials science and microfabrication know‑how.

The role requires a Bachelor's/Advanced degree in engineering or physical sciences, 5+ years in PVD, and US Citizenship for security clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Advanced degree in engineering, materials science and/or physical sciences from an accredited university.
  • Proven ability to utilize expertise in materials science/engineering or analytical chemistry to achieve design, quality and instrumentation goals.
  • Minimum of 5 years of physical vapor deposition (PVD) experience.
  • This role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance; US Citizenship is required.
  • Hands‑on experience with photolithography or similar precision patterning processing.
  • Hands‑on experience with PVD systems and processing.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Good understanding of physics and chemistry related to PVD (sputter deposition).
  • Understanding of physics and chemistry related to photolithographic processing.
  • Experience in a wet chemical lab and/or cleanroom environment.
  • Experience developing thin and thick film processes on complex contour substrates.
  • Experience with high temperature handling materials.
  • Experience analyzing and characterizing single and stacked thin/thick film layers.
  • Experience with thin‑film based transducers and roadmapping technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute microfabricated sensor applications for aerospace engines and aircraft testing.
  • Support integration of microfabricated sensor systems to engine/rig and data post‑processing.
  • Maintain lab facilities and update procedural documents.
  • Review designs with senior technical leaders and develop cost proposals.
  • Lead Thin Film Lab technology development and hands‑on processing.
  • Foster internal and external customer relationships as an interface to GE Aerospace.
