Job summary

NYC Health + Hospitals Bellevue is seeking a skilled laboratory technologist with leadership abilities to supervise a laboratory unit and ensure high‑quality patient care. The role involves performing routine and complex laboratory analyses, maintaining equipment, and upholding rigorous QC standards in a fast‑paced hospital setting.

The position requires a NYSED license and Level III experience in a clinical laboratory or blood bank, with the ability to train staff and manage workflow

Qualifications

• Valid license as a clinical laboratory technologist, cytotechnologist, or histotechnologist issued by NYSED.
• Level III: one year of full‑time paid experience as a technologist in a clinical laboratory or blood bank.
• Qualifying experience not limited to New York State; license/permits allow work in appropriate disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, assign work to, and evaluate performance of personnel in a laboratory unit performing routine and complex tests.
• Perform routine and complex clinical laboratory tests; record results and enter data.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment; perform quality control procedures.
• Participate in internal and external quality control and proficiency testing programs.
• Prepare media, reagents, and controls; ensure adequate supplies are available.
• Prepare reports and maintain charts and records on a regular basis.
• Oversee subordinate staff and provide on‑the‑job training as needed.
• Order and maintain laboratory supplies; contribute to policy development and procedure reviews.
