Job summary

Eurofins USA BioPharma Services in Raleigh, NC, seeks a Group Leader – Microbiology to drive microbial lab operations, combine hands-on microbiology with leadership, and oversee environmental monitoring and GMP compliance.

You will mentor staff, manage onboarding and training, and coordinate scheduling while applying Lean principles to improve lab efficiency and output. This role offers strong advancement opportunities in a regulated, growth-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Life Sciences, or related field.
• 6+ years of microbiology lab experience, including environmental monitoring in a GMP-regulated setting.
• 6+ years of experience leading technical or laboratory teams.
• Strong knowledge of microbiological testing, EM protocols, and lab compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental monitoring activities, including sampling of compressed gases, water systems, and cleanroom environments.
• Conduct microbial identification and testing of commercially prepared culture media.
• Maintain and analyze microbiology productivity databases; prepare monthly metrics and trend reports.
• Investigate microbiological deviations and prepare detailed reports.
• Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Review and verify microbiological data to ensure accuracy and compliance with quality standards.
• Utilize LIMS for sample tracking, test results, and reporting.
• Mentor microbiology analysts promoting a culture of quality and continuous learning.
• Manage onboarding, training, and development of new staff in EM and microbiology protocols.
• Coordinate scheduling and task allocation.
• Apply Lean principles to improve lab workflows and operational efficiency.
• Serve as a key liaison between internal teams and external clients, ensuring timely communication and project execution.
