Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) Engineer to join a leading space systems organization located in Western Texas. The role focuses on designing, analyzing, and validating MGSE for spacecraft systems, while supporting tooling, integration flow, and hands-on AIT operations onsite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 3–10+ years in mechanical engineering for space hardware.
• Experience with MGSE or heavy tooling design.
• AIT operations experience and hands-on hardware support.
• Proficiency in CAD (Inventor preferred; SolidWorks/CATIA acceptable).
• Familiarity with GD&T and PLM environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of MGSE, including jacks, rigs, lifts, and benches.
• Develop preliminary and detailed designs with layouts and interfaces.
• Produce manufacturing drawings and documentation for environmental test tooling.
• Support fabrication, assembly, integration, and testing on the engineering floor.
• Ensure designs meet requirements via structural and trade studies.
• Provide loads, materials, and FEM input; contribute to process improvements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Lead toward a manager-track role as the group expands.
