Job summary

Apex is seeking a Mechanical Engineer – Ground Systems (MGSE) to design, build, and support equipment enabling spacecraft integration, testing, and launch. You will work hands-on with hardware and partner with engineering, test, and manufacturing teams to ensure scalable, reliable ground support systems.

Responsibilities include designing MGSE in NX, creating drawings and BOMs, and performing load-path and stress analyses with hand methods and FEA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years of mechanical design or test support experience (master’s may substitute).
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (CATIA preferred).
• Understanding of tolerancing, structural analysis, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with MGSE in aerospace or satellite environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical ground equipment using 3D CAD tools (NX).
• Create part drawings, assemblies, and BOMs.
• Assess load paths, fixture stability, and stress margins with hand calculations and FEA.
• Support integration, assembly, and test campaigns with hands-on hardware expertise.
• Develop documentation for MGSE use cases and analyses.
