Job summary

Velosity Forest Lake is seeking a Sr. Metrology Technician to support our Forest Lake, MN manufacturing facility. The role provides in-depth technical and procedural guidance for repair and modification of a wide range of complex precision measurement equipment used on assigned programs.

Schedule: Monday–Friday 7:30am–3:30pm. The typical pay range is $31.00–$42.00 per hour with a 5% quarterly bonus target. This position includes a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• Associates Degree in electronics, engineering, or related discipline.
• ASQ certification or equivalent desirable.
• 5 years' experience in metrology-related field.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; MS Office proficiency.
• Ability to perform daily tasks safely and work independently.
• Proficiency in programming inspection equipment; Pc-Dmis, Zone3, MeasureX, Microvu.
• CMM programming and GD&T preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair measurement instruments including dimensional, mechanical, torque, electronic, and in-process tools.
• Perform First Article inspection, capability studies, and Gage R&R per prints.
• Ensure accurate data entry and record-keeping for ISO audits.
• Develop and implement new metrology processes and calibration procedures.
• Identify and resolve issues with measurement systems and instruments.
• Train and mentor junior technicians on metrology practices.

Velosity Forest Lake is searching for a Sr. Metrology Technician to support our manufacturing facility in Forest Lake, MN. A SeniorMetrology technician provides in-depth technical and procedural advice for repair and modification of a wide variety of complex precision measurement equipment utilized for assigned program.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am-3:30pm

The typical pay range for this role: $31.00-$42.00 per hour. This role is also eligible for a 5% quarterly bonus target.

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography, internal equity and other relevant factors.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
• Associates Degree in related field such as electronics technology, engineering, or a similar discipline.
• Certifications such as ASQ (American Society for Quality) or equivalent are highly desirable.
• 5 years' experience in metrology-related field.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; effective business correspondence and reporting; working knowledge of Microsoft Office and business operating systems.
• To be able to perform daily tasks safely; To work independently with limited supervision; To be able to solve practical problems and work effectively with customers, vendors and other departments.
• Proficiency in programming inspection equipment. Software's include Pc-Dmis, Zone3, MeasureX, and Microvu.
• Preferred proficiency in CMM programming, GD&T and basic mechanical aptitude.

Essential Duties:

• Work cooperatively with all employee.
• Maintain, and repair a variety of measurement instruments, including dimensional, mechanical, torque, electronic, and in-process instrumentation.
• Perform First Article inspection, capability studies and Gage R&R as defined on a print.
• Ensure correct data entry and maintain records for internal and external ISO certification audits.
• Develop and implement new metrology processes and calibration procedures.
• Identify and resolve issues with measurement systems and instruments.
• Train and mentor junior technicians and other staff on metrology practices and procedures.

Physical & Mental Demands:

• Walking and stair climbing is required within the office/shop areas. Sitting, standing, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, and fingers are physical requirements. Must have correctable eyesight and good depth perception. Must be able to walk, sit and occasionally climb and balance.
• Ability to lift to 30 pounds.
• Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and complete them within a timely manner; Ability to make decisions with limited information.

This is a non-smoking, professional manufacturing facility with normal lighting, and climate control. This position requires the employee to work on a manufacturing floor where they may be subject to airborne contaminants and chemical odors.
