QuantumScape Corporation is seeking a Senior Member of Technical Staff, Metrology, to lead the development and deployment of automated metrology systems for high-throughput battery manufacturing. This role sits at the crossroads of materials, manufacturing, characterization, and data science, and requires hands-on design, integration, and project leadership.

The candidate will drive instrumented solutions, collaborate with internal and external teams, and manage full lifecycle metrology

Qualifications

• PhD in mechanical engineering, materials science, EE, physics, or related field; or MS with 5+ years; or BS with 8+ years related experience.
• Hands-on experience with design and integration of automated process and/or metrology tools.
• Experience developing, validating, and deploying robust imaging and characterization hardware (optical, acoustic, ultrasound, x-ray imaging, and/or thermal sensors)
• Strong knowledge of measurement systems analysis, statistical process control, and design of experiments.
• Proficient in CAD design and rapid prototyping methods.

Responsabilités

• Lead efforts to convert low-throughput inspection solutions into integrated automated measurements in high-throughput settings.
• Lead high-throughput measurement system development, procurement, and deployment/integration.
• Manage lifecycle of metrology projects from requirements to deployment and maintenance.
• Collaborate with integrators to define and deploy in-line metrology systems.
• Collaborate across metrology, process, software and automation teams to meet throughput and performance requirements.
• Lead design of sample and measurement hardware fixtures.
