Software Placement Group, SPG seeks an experienced Metallurgist specializing in High Performance Alloys in New Castle, PA. You will lead metallurgical processes, analyze specifications, and provide solutions across manufacturing stages to enhance material performance.

The role requires 8–10 years in high-performance alloys, strong leadership, and broad metallurgy expertise, including nickel-based superalloys. Expect travel and close collaboration with engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, or Materials Science.
• 8-10 years of hands-on experience in high-performance alloys within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven technical leadership and expertise in aerospace-grade materials and high-performance alloy manufacturing.
• In-depth understanding of metallurgical principles and standards, particularly nickel-based superalloys and high-temperature materials.
• Strong grasp of physical and mechanical metallurgy, including phase transformations, microstructural evolution, and deformation behavior.
• Familiarity with deformation processing methods and industry standards (ASTM, NADCAP, AS9100).
• Proficiency in data analysis, applied statistics, and process control.
• Exceptional communication skills for conveying complex technical information to diverse audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and collaboratively.
• Willingness to travel extensively to meet business requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of metallurgical processes aligned with customer specs and quality standards.
• Analyze inquiries and specifications to design new products.
• Provide technical support and solutions for metallurgical challenges across operations.
• Test and analyze alloy properties to optimize quality and performance.
• Investigate non-conformance issues and root causes of failures.
• Prepare and review technical reports on material properties and development processes.
• Stay informed of technological advancements to enhance the product portfolio.
