Job summary

Welding Works in Madison, CT seeks a Lead Estimator/Sales in Metal Fabrication to prepare quotations, analyze RFQ requirements and drawings, and take top‑line sales responsibility. The role requires self‑motivation and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Candidate should have extensive experience in metal fabrication, strong cost analysis skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and colleagues. Pay is commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Extensive metal fabricating print reading skills and the ability to interpret/analyze specifications and tolerances.
• Knowledge of metal fabrication processes.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
• Must have at least eight (8) years of experience in the same or similar role.
• Ability to make sales calls and develop new customers.

Responsibilities

• Compute costs of materials, purchased items, fabrication processes and time requirements.
• Solicit and collect material costs.
• Identify optimal material utilization and fabrication methods.
• Establish fabrication rates and options for fabrication methods.
• Maintain metrics related to quality and timeliness of estimates and win/loss ratios; review and update rate tables.
• Review job costing to establish accuracy of estimates and process.
