Our client is a popular and trendy girls apparel brand. This role is on-site 5 days a week in Long Island.
This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the right products are available at the right time and in the right quantities to meet customer demand. You will act as a bridge between design, production, and sales, coordinating activities like product sourcing, line planning, and sales analysis.
Senior Merchandiser Responsibilities
- Drive business performance of merchandise categories through early planning and strategy implementation.
- Responsible from conception to completion working with design, development, tech, and production teams, including negotiating prices with factories.
- Partner with Design on product assortment and develop line plans to meet and exceed financial goals.
- Maintain strong fashion trend knowledge.
- Analyze sales data to identify trends, forecast demand, and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Plan and develop the product line, considering pricing, quantities, and sales forecasts.
- Work with designers and sourcing teams to ensure products align with market trends and brand aesthetics.
- Source raw materials, negotiate with suppliers, and ensure quality standards are met.
- Select key items and develop seasonal plans based on historical and current data.
- Manage in-season business by analyzing sales to identify opportunities for growth and margin improvement.
- Lead cross-functional meetings to review product performance, delivery issues, and liabilities.
- Ensure timely and consistent merchandise flow through problem-solving.
- Conduct competitor analysis and market scans to inform line planning and in-season adjustments.
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of experience in Merchandising/Buying.
- Strong financial and retail math skills.
- Deep understanding of brand and customer insights.
- Excellent fashion trend interpretation skills.
- Strategic, analytical, and agile thinking.
- Effective communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to develop and retain top talent.
