Job summary

SSOE is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with experience in HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection design for Commercial, Education, Aviation, and Healthcare projects worldwide. The role involves sizing HVAC equipment and systems, producing drawings in AutoCAD, REVIT and MicroStation, coordinating with disciplines, and guiding projects from concept through completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering required and licensure qualification in state of practice.
• PE or PE-tracked preferred with 2+ years in a related role at SSOE or 8+ years with previous employers.
• If not licensed, 5 years at SSOE as Engineer 4 or 11+ years elsewhere.
• Experience sizing HVAC equipment, duct, hydronic, piping, plumbing and fire protection systems.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, REVIT, and MicroStation preferred; strong MS Office skills.
• ABCs: IB CODES, ASHRAE, ASPE, NFPA knowledge; independent and team work.
• Experience in Commercial, Education, Aviation, and Healthcare projects; strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Applies engineering principles across broad assignments.
• Lead project engineer roles with responsibility for scope and quality.
• Represent the firm in client meetings to define scope and progress.
• Plan and coordinate medium to large projects with budget and schedule responsibility.
• Ensure materials and equipment meet quality standards.
• Provide guidance as a technical specialist when needed.
• Supervise teams of engineers and designers on assigned projects.
• Maintain professional development in discipline and client engagement.
