Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Senior MEP Estimator I- Process Mechanical to lead estimating on large manufacturing projects featuring advanced construction methods such as clean rooms and automation. The role is hybrid and based in Minneapolis or other listed locations.

You will manage estimator teams, develop bids, and ensure pricing coverage with BIM integration while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with operations and design partners.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Estimating, Engineering, Construction Management.
• Minimum nine years of construction industry experience.
• Ability to manage multiple large projects and lead estimator teams.
• Proficient in BIM and using project docs to quantify work and guide design to budget.
• Knowledge of building systems, contract types, and risk mitigation.
• Understanding pricing, productivity for self-performed work, and data quality.

Responsibilities

• Organize, plan, and schedule estimate preparation, leading teams of estimators on large projects.
• Facilitate meetings for estimate completion, assign work, and ensure reliable estimates incorporating all relevant information.
• Prepare trade partner strategy, invitations to bid, and budgets, ensuring complete pricing coverage and BIM documents.
• Promote collaboration for scope and budget alignment, ensuring completion of changes discussed in estimate reviews.
• Conduct quantity surveys, determine site logistics and schedule requirements, using cost history to inform pricing.
• Ensure estimates meet margin goals, prepare and present margin plans, and manage Bid Day and estimate presentations.
• Utilize Cortex for cost modeling, value analysis, and target value delivery, performing cost studies and assisting design teams.
• Prepare or supervise self-performed work scopes, ensuring accurate pricing and proper allocation of costs, hours, and quantities.
• Build and maintain relationships with operations, design partners, trade partners, and owners; keep knowledge base updated.
• Lead by example, coach and mentor team members, assist in software selection, and work with diverse backgrounds.
