Job summary

The McDonnel Group in Metairie, LA is seeking experienced construction professionals for a Senior Estimator role. You will join a collaborative team on a diverse mix of Commercial and Industrial projects, contributing to preconstruction, cost estimation, and bid delivery.

The position emphasizes thorough takeoffs, risk assessment, value engineering, and strong coordination with design teams, subs, and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Construction, or Project Management.
• 4+ years general construction experience with pre-construction and estimating focus.
• Proficient with MS Excel, MS Word and estimating/earthworks software; Timberline experience preferred.
• Proven leadership abilities and CG construction estimating experience.
• Must pass pre-employment screening and hold a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preconstruction on projects (value engineering, coordination with design team, subs/suppliers)
• Maintain Timberline database with accurate material costs for concrete and carpentry items
• Understand scope of work for bids and inform bid team of items to account for
• Identify risks associated with the project and account for them in estimates
• Perform takeoffs of GSF, site fill, concrete and carpentry items for bids
• Create bid packages and select subs/suppliers to invite for each bid
• Send initial invitation to bid and complete Bid Summary sheet
• Complete bid turnover package and conduct turnover meeting
• Attend pre-bid meetings and communicate with design team on deficiencies
