Job summary

Jobot is seeking an Estimator (Commercial) in New York, NY. The ideal candidate will prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects, including electrical, mechanical, MEP, and plumbing, and support bid and project execution with precise quantity take-offs.

Applicants should have 5+ years in commercial estimating, strong contract negotiation skills, and proficiency in estimating and PM software. Union experience is a plus. On-site, permanent role with full benefits and PTO.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial construction estimating.
• Experience in estimating commercial, industrial, electrical, mechanical, MEP, and plumbing projects.
• Union experience is a plus.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans and specifications and performing quantity take-offs for commercial, industrial, electrical, mechanical, MEP, and plumbing projects.
• Evaluate and present or negotiate contract terms with the project manager and legal team.
• Conduct a thorough risk analysis for each project.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors on project cost estimates.
• Maintain a comprehensive database of updated project costs, including labor, materials, equipment, and time.
• Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, and cost tracking reports.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and contractors for competitive pricing.
• Attend site visits and proposal meetings to assist in estimates.
• Monitor project status; identify issues and coordinate with team to resolve.
• Coordinate with PM team on change orders and contract amendments.
