Job summary

AMPAM seeks a Design Engineer to design MEP systems for multi-family and commercial projects in California. The role supports, develops, and leads design efforts and may work under senior engineers or independently depending on level.

Candidates will prepare drawings in AutoCAD and Revit, apply codes, coordinate with disciplines, and mentor junior staff. Placement at I/II/III level will be based on education and experience; compensation ranges from $34/hour to $130k+ annually.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
• 0–3 years for Design Engineer I; 3+ for II; 6+ for III.
• EIT preferred for I, PE progress desirable for II/III.

Responsibilities

• Design & Engineering: develop plumbing, HVAC, and electrical designs from concept through construction documents for multi-family residential buildings.
• Perform engineering calculations (loads, ventilation, duct/pipe sizing, electrical load).
• Prepare/review drawings in AutoCAD and Revit; apply codes and standards.
• Coordinate designs with architecture, structural and other disciplines.
• Serve as design contact; support meetings, RFIs, submittals; assist field observations.
