Job summary

Elanco is seeking a Senior Research Scientist - Medicinal Chemist in Indianapolis, IN to advance small molecule programs for animal health. You will design and optimize compounds, guide SAR studies, and collaborate with a cross-functional team leveraging DEL and AI/ML tools to accelerate discovery.

Qualifications

• PhD in Medicinal Chemistry or related field required.
• At least 3 years of industry experience in medicinal chemistry.
• Strong skills in complex synthesis and pharmacokinetics.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize small molecules guided by SAR data.
• Coordinate synthesis, purification, and characterization with CROs and internal partners.
• Leverage DEL and AI/ML tools to accelerate hit identification and lead optimization.
• Collaborate with Biology, Pharmacology, DMPK, Toxicology, and Computational Sciences teams.
• Maintain rigorous experimental design and data integrity.
