IDEAYA Biosciences is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Scientist, Medicinal Chemistry, to join our multidisciplinary team in South San Francisco. The role focuses on delivering clinically-relevant molecules through innovative synthetic chemistry, SAR-guided design, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry required.
• 0-3 years of pharmaceutical industry medicinal chemistry experience preferred.
• Expertise in asymmetric reactions and modern cross-coupling techniques.

Responsibilities

• Apply modern synthetic techniques to prepare complex targets for oncology programs.
• Design reaction sequences to avoid liabilities and streamline purifications.
• Troubleshoot transformations and gather reaction information quickly.
• Plan, multitask, and maintain high productivity in the lab.
• Deliver molecules from 10 mg to >25 g scales.
• Manage external synthesis resources for productivity.
• Leverage SAR data and structure-based design to improve affinity and selectivity.
• Present results clearly in various forums.
