The University of Miami Medical Technologist 2 (H) will perform microbiological, molecular, and immunological tests on body specimens to support diagnosis and treatment decisions, while ensuring quality assurance and instrument maintenance.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree, current Florida Medical Technologist License, and at least 2 years of relevant experience. Strong data handling, collaboration with pathologists, and the ability to work evenings or weekends are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Florida Medical Technologist License in hand.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
• Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
• Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

Responsabilités

• Verifies specimen identification with orders and prepares specimens for testing.
• Analyzes results and interprets abnormal or unusual results.
• Researches and prepares patient data and refers data and results to pathologists for evaluation and sign-out.
• Calibrates equipment, orders supplies, and maintains inventory of forms and materials.
• Recognizes test inconsistencies and takes corrective action; supports lab colleagues.
• Administers quality-control tests and maintains data recording.
• Trains staff on laboratory techniques and operations.
• Adheres to policies and safeguards university assets.
• Analyzes samples using LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, GC-MS/MS and prepares them for testing.
