Hospital Authority in Hong Kong is seeking a Senior Medical Technologist for the Division of Chemical Pathology at Queen Mary Hospital. The role supports serving HA staff, leads laboratory operations and drives accreditation preparation.

The candidate should have MSc in Medical Laboratory Science, full registration as a Medical Laboratory Technologist, and at least 7 years' experience in the Medical Technologist rank. Location: Hong Kong West Cluster, Queen Mary Hospital.

• Be a registered Part I Medical Laboratory Technologist with a valid Practising Certificate.

Pay: HK$97,787 to HK$116,855 per month including Monthly Allowance. Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff upon completion of the contract subject to satisfactory performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Department Manager in departmental operational policies development, service planning, risk management, training & development plans, and quality improvement.
• Plan and coordinate technological development to meet service needs.
• Take charge of a clinical laboratory.
• Co-ordinate responsibilities among section supervisors in the division.
• Supervise the daily operation of the laboratory providing Chemical Pathology services.
• Attend hospital and departmental meetings.
• Participate in the daily Chemical Pathology services.
• Prepare the laboratory to attain accreditation.
• Carry out laboratory managerial duties including human resources management, budgetary planning and procurement.
• Plan and monitor new services.
• Evaluate new methodologies and instruments.
• Train medical laboratory technical staff.
• Control, maintain and improve the quality of laboratory services and safety standards of laboratory services.
• Co-ordinate clinical training for students from academic institutions.

Entry Requirements

• MSc in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent; and (For serving staff: The list of Recognizable Qualifications for Appointment of Senior Medical Technologist is attached: http://hr.home/Doc/GA/RecognizableQual-SMT (Apr 2026).pdf)
• Be a registered Part I (full registration) Medical Laboratory Technologist and have a valid Practicing Certificate under the Allied Health Professions Ordinance.
• At least 7 years' experience in Medical Technologist rank.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong interest towards improving management system of the department.
• Knowledge, expertise and experience in Laboratory Accreditation.
