Job Summary :

This role involves pricing quotes and analyzing contract structures based on claims experience, employee group characteristics, and other factors. The underwriter uses discretion within company policies to ensure profitability and growth, while identifying when to decline unsuitable quotes. Responsibilities include risk analysis for new and renewing contracts, preparing reports, and guiding lower-level underwriters.

Essential Responsibilities :
  • Manage a portfolio of accounts, renewing and acquiring new business profitably.
  • Calculate rates, interpret pricing policies, and adapt to unusual situations.
  • Identify questionable claim patterns and develop recommendations.
  • Apply risk management policies and adjust pricing accordingly.
  • Ensure client compliance with policies and criteria.
  • Support internal initiatives like fraud detection and wellness programs.
  • Complete renewals and prospect quotes, review work of analysts.
  • Communicate policy recommendations clearly and influence sales strategies.
  • Guide and assist lower-level analysts.

Education :

Required: Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field or 6 years relevant experience.

Experience :

5-7 years in underwriting self-funded and converting fully insured prospects.
