Job summary

West Leland Group is partnering with a science-driven life sciences organization seeking an experienced Senior Medical Science Liaison to join its growing U.S. Medical Affairs organization.

This field-based role will serve as a key scientific partner to physicians, investigators, and academic institutions across the Midwest. The Senior MSL will work closely with Medical Affairs and Clinical Development to support scientific exchange, KOL development, ongoing clinical research, and evidence

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, NP, PA, or equivalent).
• 5+ years of Medical Science Liaison experience, including oncology.
• Demonstrated success developing scientific relationships with KOLs, investigators, and academic medical centers.
• Experience supporting clinical trials and investigator engagement.
• Strong ability to interpret and communicate complex scientific and clinical information.
• Proven success independently managing a large, field-based territory.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and expand trusted scientific relationships with KOLs, investigators, healthcare professionals, and leading academic institutions.
• Lead balanced, evidence-based scientific exchange and communicate complex clinical data with confidence and credibility.
• Support clinical research through investigator engagement, trial education, site collaboration, and identification of potential research opportunities.
• Gather meaningful field insights and communicate emerging trends, unmet needs, and key observations internally.
• Represent the organization at scientific congresses, advisory boards, investigator meetings, and educational programs.
• Collaborate closely with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, and other internal stakeholders.
• Independently develop and execute territory strategy across a geographically diverse, multi-state region.

West Leland Group is partnering with a science-driven life sciences organization seeking an experienced Senior Medical Science Liaison to join its growing U.S. Medical Affairs organization.

This field-based role will serve as a key scientific partner to physicians, investigators, and academic institutions across the Midwest. The Senior MSL will work closely with Medical Affairs and Clinical Development to support scientific exchange, KOL development, ongoing clinical research, and evidence generation across oncology and other complex disease areas.

The successful candidate will bring deep field medical experience, strong scientific credibility, and a track record of developing meaningful relationships with key external experts.

Location

This is a field-based role supporting the Midwest. Candidates based in the Chicago or Minneapolis markets are strongly preferred, with consideration given to other strategic locations across the region.

What You'll Do

Required Qualifications

• Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, NP, PA, or equivalent).
• 5+ years of Medical Science Liaison experience, including significant experience within oncology. Experience in solid tumors, hematologic malignancies, or cell therapy is highly relevant.
• Demonstrated success developing scientific relationships with KOLs, investigators, and academic medical centers.
• Experience supporting clinical trials and investigator engagement.
• Strong ability to interpret and communicate complex scientific and clinical information.
• Proven success independently managing a large, field-based territory.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
