Job summary

Bayfrontstpete is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) II to evaluate and interpret results, and analyze blood and body fluids using automated and manual methods. The role ensures high-quality laboratory outputs within established timelines and collaborates across the lab team.

Responsibilities include quality assessment, instrument maintenance, QC documentation, and training of new staff, while maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science or a related field.
• Clinical laboratory training internship completed.
• Florida license as a Medical Technologist in the required specialties.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates specimens for quality and preanalytical errors.
• Verifies results and quality control data for accuracy and reliability.
• Performs, evaluates and documents QC, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Receives general guidance on moderately complex procedures.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area and ensures safety practices.
• Assists in training of new team members and students.
• Communicates critical results to the patient caregiver.
• Keeps current knowledge of laboratory practices and regulatory requirements.

Education

Bachelor’s degree

Associate’s degree + 2 years related experience substituted

Florida license as Medical Technologist

ASCP/AAB/AMT certification preferred

Clinical laboratory training internship
