Job summary

UNC Rex Healthcare in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Senior/Lead Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform a variety of patient testing across multiple disciplines in support of clinical activities.

Responsibilities include ensuring accuracy of test results, troubleshooting equipment and workflows, providing technical direction and precepting staff, and participating in quality control and compliance activities. Education and certification requirements are listed in the ad.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science or related field.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Biological Science or Associate’s Degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Technology.
• Licensure/certification per degree pathway (ASCP/AMT or equivalent).
• Four (4) years of experience with an Associate degree pathway.
• Three (3) years of experience with a ASCP certified bachelor’s path.
• Two (2) years of experience with MT/MLS ASCP/AMT pathway.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates advanced level technologist competencies and problem solving to produce accurate lab results across testing levels and domains.
• Maintains and investigates problems with equipment, test results, specimens, and workflow.
• Serves as a Senior or Lead Technologist, providing technical direction and consultation to the healthcare team.
• Gathers data for quality improvement and may assess competency levels.
• Monitors daily operation of the laboratory section or work area.
• Participates in projects including inventory management, test validation, and QC/PT reviews.
