Job summary

UNC Health Rex Healthcare in Raleigh, NC is hiring for Medical Laboratory Scientist I or II to perform a range of CLIA testing in a hybrid posting depending on qualifications. This role supports the Rex Microbiology unit and provides technical guidance and education to staff.

Qualifications include a degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science (or related), with MLS MT certification for the II level and 2 years of experience for II. This is a full-time, onsite night shift position.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's or Associate degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science or related field.
• Licensure/Certification: MLS/MT as specified for level.
• Experience: MLS I requires no prior professional laboratory experience; MLS II requires 2 years depending on degree.

Responsibilities

• Perform waived/point-of-care, moderate, and high complexity CLIA testing as appropriate to role.
• Investigate and resolve problems with equipment, results, specimens, and workflow.
• Perform quality control and proficiency testing; monitor accuracy of testing.
• Prepare reagents and assist in preparation of standard and control materials.
• Monitor reagent inventory and assist with maintaining laboratory supplies.
• Review test results to ensure reporting accuracy and timely corrections.
• Report laboratory results and consult with healthcare providers as needed.
• Participate in education and training of new employees and learners.
• Serve as a technical resource and work independently or with guidance.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science or related

Associate's Degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Technology
