Job description

(Remote) Well-established Medical Communications Company is seeking a Senior Medical Director who will oversee the development and implementation of various medical communications assignments supporting their pharmaceutical clients. The individual will help develop the client relationship by ensuring that the scientific needs of the account are being met, specifically that the work has strategic focus, scientific rigor/accuracy, and clinical relevance.

Responsibilities Include:
  1. Act as the scientific lead on multiple accounts, providing strategic direction and leadership
  2. Overseeing content development, including primary writing
  3. Problem-solving when conflicts or issues arise to ensure that the client’s goals are met
  4. Building and maintaining client relationships
  5. Partnering effectively with other cross-functional team leads to ensure client communication strategies are achieved
  6. Providing input into the scientific aspects of budget and timeline development
  7. Collaborating with the client services team on scientific staffing plans
  8. Participating in business development initiatives, including identifying and providing recommendations to potential new clients
  9. Training and developing junior scientific staff members
  10. Actively participating in and leading scientific services departmental initiatives designed to foster creativity and innovation in the company and its services.
Requirements/Skills/Experience Include:
  1. The successful candidate will have a commanding knowledge in any one or more of the following therapeutic areas; respiratory, cardiovascular, immunology, dermatology, internal medicine (including pulmonology, nephrology, and rheumatology) is essential.
  2. An advanced degree such as PharmD, or PhD.
  3. Ability to interpret data and to provide pharmaceutical clients with strategic/scientific direction
  4. Strong organizational, and problem solving skills
  5. Expertise in overseeing a wide range of complex projects within a team structure
  6. Excellent communication and presentation skills and management experience with the ability to mentor and guide others
  7. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, highly detail-oriented environment
  8. In depth knowledge of pharmaceutical standards, compliance, and regulations
  9. Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, and Internet research
  10. Ability and willingness to travel (typically once or twice a month for client events/meetings).
