Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Pharmacology, and ICD-10 CM/PCS coding.
• Proficiency in applying CC/MCC coding principles.
• Understanding POA, DRG, MS-DRG, APR-DRG systems and severity of illness.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to AHIMA guidelines and ethical coding standards.
• Apply ICD-10 CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS coding to reflect patient visits accurately.
• Collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, and billing teams to resolve queries.
• Use coding software to manage inpatient coding, including procedures and diagnoses.
• Abstract data elements such as POA and discharge status as required.
• Communicate coding issues to providers and CDI specialists to improve documentation.
• Serve as a resource for coding questions and billing edits.
• Maintain coding accuracy rate of 95%+ and meet productivity standards.
