Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years of experience as a medical coder required
• Associate’s degree preferred
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

• Functions as an advanced coder in the abstraction and in-depth analysis of medical documentation and assigns appropriate procedural terminology and medical codes
• Analyzes, enters and manipulates database and responds to internal requests for medical information
• Reviews coding denials and resolves issues with claims having errors related to improper coding
• Abstracts data, reviews codes for accuracy and communicates improvements to providers and departments
