Job summary

Munson Healthcare in northern Michigan seeks an experienced inpatient coder to analyze medical records, assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT-4 codes, and ensure accurate billing. You will work with physicians and CDI specialists to clarify records and support compliant reimbursement.

Required qualifications include an Associate's or Bachelor's in Health Information, CCS/RHIT/RHIA certification, and 1–3 years of ICD10-CM/PCS experience.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information, or CCS certification.
• RHIT/RHIA/CCS certification required.
• 1–3 years' experience with ICD10-CM/ICD10-PCS coding systems.

Responsibilities

• Analyze medical records to determine coding and abstracting needs.
• Assign ICD10-CM diagnosis, ICD10-PCS procedures, and CPT-4 codes per guidelines.
• Abstract or edit data and assign charges for ER, infusions, injections, and procedures.
• Communicate with physicians and CDI specialists to request clarification and ensure accurate coding.
• Maintain organized coding references and participate in ongoing education.
