Job summary

Care New England Health System is seeking a Billing Clerk to support timely and accurate medical billing. The role involves verifying patient information, coordinating with clinical staff and payers, and ensuring claims are submitted promptly in accordance with third-party payer requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma (associates preferred), 2 years of medical billing experience, and proficiency with Excel, Word, and electronic billing systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s Degree preferred.
• 2 years billing experience in a medical setting preferred; demonstrated competency in typing, calculator use, professional phone skills, filing, photocopying and fax operations.
• Experience with PCs and knowledge of computer systems and software, including Excel and Word, as well as electronic billing, required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and verify patient information for completeness and accuracy; communicate with clinical staff, payers and patients.
• Verify signatures on documents such as Patient Client Authorization Form.
• Verify insurance data, coordinate benefits and respond to inquiries.
• Verify patients’ insurance coverage and pay source; ensure visits occur within admission and discharge dates.
• Review and correct paperwork before billing; submit claims promptly to payers.
