Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health in Winchester is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to ensure financial clearance for high-dollar patient care and to submit information to insurance companies for approval prior to service dates.

In this hybrid role, you will verify demographics, guarantor information, and coverage, collect registration data, and coordinate with PCPs and referrals while guiding patients through payment obligations and connecting them with Financial Counselors as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years’ experience in a business/health care setting.
• Knowledge of insurance coverage and/or reimbursement.
• Excellent customer service and data processing skills.

Responsibilities

• Review patient accounts to determine financial clearance status.
• Verify and update patient demographic and contact information.
• Validate guarantor information and coverage assignments.
• Submit precertifications and follow up on approvals.
• Communicate with patients about payment obligations and steps to meet them.
• Collaborate with insurance companies to validate benefits, eligibility, and referrals.
• Escalate complex accounts to leadership when needed.
• Assist in scheduling and coordination with clinical departments.
