Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of a post-high school medical assisting program with externship.
• Equivalent RN/LPN training may be considered.
• BLS certification required.
• Experience with documenting visits and basic coding knowledge.
• Ability to transcribe data into electronic records using ICD/CPT codes.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with patients, families and staff in courteous, professional manner.
• Records vital signs, chief complaints and pertinent information; reports changes.
• Prepares exam rooms and instruments; assists with procedures and minor surgeries.
• Collects, labels and processes specimens as required; performs point-of-care tests as allowed.
• Documents care interactions and patient responses in electronic records.
• Coordinates scheduling and communicates with care teams and departments.
• Maintains equipment, supplies and room cleanliness; reports issues.
• Provides emotional support and respects patient privacy and safety.
