Job summary

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a Medical Assistant to assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of the Physician and/or Designee. This role supports patient flow, prepares rooms, records vital signs, and assists with routine laboratory tests.

Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, administering medications/injections where required, maintaining inventory, and ensuring a clean, functional work environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum six (6) months of experience or successful Kaiser Permanente externship.
• High School Diploma/GED.
• Completion of a course of study consistent with the requirements for Medical Assistants as specified by the Medical Board of California.
• Basic Life Support.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical information.
• Ability to effectively present information, both verbal and written.
• Must be willing to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment.
• Refer to Position Specifications outlined in the appropriate collective bargaining agreement.
• Demonstrated ability to use personal computer.
• Medical Terminology Certificate or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients and measures vital signs and records information in the medical record.
• Prepares treatment rooms and assists clinician with care; inventories, orders and replenishes supplies.
• Schedules appointments, performs clinical tasks and completes forms; may administer medications and injections.
• Performs data entry functions and maintains a clean, orderly work environment.
• Supports a collaborative labor-management partnership environment and adheres to attendance policies.
