Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Senior Medical Assistant Certified (Sr. MA) to provide expert clinical support under physician or RN supervision. The role includes assisting with examinations, procedures, and dressing changes, while ensuring care quality and compliance with CLIA and HIPAA standards.

The Sr. MA may schedule appointments, verify medical necessity, and serve as a preceptor and clinical resource for Medical Assistants. Strong English communication and EMR skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Five years medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
• Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA/ NAHP/ NCCT/ NHA) or Registered Medical Assistant or EMT, and BLS.
• Preferred CPT – Certified Phlebotomy Technician.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatment, and dressing changes.
• Schedule patient appointments and verify insurance eligibility and medical necessity where appropriate.
• Serve as preceptor and clinical resource to Medical Assistants; train and orient others as needed.
• Provide safe, patient-centered care and maintain accurate medical records.
