Job summary

Houston Methodist Primary Care Group is seeking a Senior Medical Assistant Certified (Sr. MA) to provide advanced MA support under physician or nurse supervision. The role includes direct patient care, order entry, and clinical assistance across assigned populations.

The Sr. MA will also function as an EMR super-user, support hand hygiene validation, and act as a preceptor to Medical Assistants, ensuring high-quality patient care and compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, NCQA, and government standards.

Qualifications

• Five years medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
• Strong clinical and administrative skills to support physician and nursing staff.
• Proficiency in EMR documentation, patient communication, and care coordination.

Responsibilities

• Assist with examinations, procedures, and dressing changes under supervision.
• Schedule patient appointments and verify eligibility for care when needed.
• Preceptor and clinical resource to Medical Assistants, mentoring colleagues.
