Job summary

Houston Methodist seeks a Senior Medical Assistant Certified (Sr. MA) to provide expert MA support under physician and nurse supervision. The role includes patient examinations, procedures, and medical record documentation, with EMR super-user responsibilities.

The Sr. MA will schedule appointments, ensure medical necessity compliance, and train others as a clinical resource, contributing to high-quality patient care and department operations.

Qualifications

• Requires 5 years medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
• Must hold Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT. NHA or Registered Medical Assistant or EMT.
• BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatment, and dressing changes.
• Schedule patient appointments and verify eligibility for care, ensuring medical necessity compliance.
• Provide preceptor and clinical resource to Medical Assistants; train and orient staff as appropriate.
• Independently perform duties of preceptor and clinical resource within the department.
