Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Medical Assistant to join our dermatology practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, excellent interpersonal skills, and a thorough understanding of dermatologic procedures. This position plays a vital role in ensuring smooth clinical operations and supporting physicians.
Essential Functions:
- Assist providers during medical and cosmetic procedures (e.g., biopsies, cryotherapy, excisions, laser treatments, and injectables)
- Prepare exam rooms, instruments, and supplies
- Obtain and document patient history, vitals, and reason for visit
- Administer medications and perform procedures as directed by the physician
- Scribe for providers during patient visits (as needed)
- Ensure accurate and timely charting in EMR (Electronic Medical Records)
- Ensure compliance with clinical protocols and safety standards
- Monitor workflow and assist with optimizing efficiency in patient care
- Coordinate patient care, including follow-up appointments, referrals, and prescription refills
- Maintain clinical inventory and order medical supplies
- Ensure adherence to HIPAA and OSHA guidelines
Requirements
Education, Skills, and Experience:
- Certified Medical Assistant or Registered medical Assistant strongly preferred
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in dermatology or similar outpatient clinical setting
- Proficiency in dermatologic terminology and common procedures
- Strong EMR experience; experience in ModMed/EMA strongly preferred
- Currently BLS/CPR/AED certification
- Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times
