Position Summary:

The Medical Assistant (MA) assists physicians with examinations and treatments, conducts patient interviews, measures vital signs, draws blood, prepares specimens, and performs administrative tasks such as scheduling and registration. This role may require floating to other IMSL clinics as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum: High School Diploma or GED, plus completion of a Medical Assistant training program; ability to perform point of care testing, draw blood, and prepare specimens.
  • Preferred: BLS (CPR) Certification; 1 year of MA, phlebotomy, vaccines, and pediatric experience; two years in an ambulatory care setting.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assisting with procedures and examinations, performing phlebotomy, EKGs, dressing changes, and administering medications.
  • Managing patient schedules and performing registration, check-in, and check-out procedures.
  • Providing excellent customer service and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Responding to third-party payers’ requirements, requesting medical records, and coordinating referrals.
  • Fostering positive relationships with patients, staff, and stakeholders.
