Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a senior media relations professional to serve as the primary communications contact for an assigned hospital and services. You will develop earned media strategies, manage inquiries, coordinate interviews and press events, and provide communications support to hospital leadership and staff.

As a Public Information Officer during crises and emergencies, you will ensure timely, accurate messaging while participating in after-hours coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field.
• Five to seven years in media relations, public relations or related area.
• Experience developing media strategies, generating earned coverage, managing crises.
• Exceptional writing, editing and content creation across digital and social platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead proactive and reactive media relations for an assigned hospital and priorities.
• Develop and distribute press releases, advisories, statements and talking points.
• Serve as spokesperson or prepare leaders for media engagement.
• Coordinate interviews, press events and on-site media with HIPAA compliance.
• Maintain media lists, coverage reports and archives; manage content calendar.
• Create digital and social content to amplify earned media coverage.
• Collaborate with system colleagues to pitch stories regionally and nationally.
• Provide strategic counsel on media interactions and public perception.
